Default AMD Turion VS. Core 2 Duo

Hey everybody, I am looking to buy a new laptop that will last me the three years that I am in law school. When looking through the newspapers, it seems that there are two processors that are dominating the laptop market: AMD's Turion X2, and the Core 2 Duo. Aside from the processors, assume that the rest of the specs and prices are identical (which seems to be the case at Best Buy and Circuit City anyways).

Which one would you go for and why?

Whichever one looked cooler.

I am serious. Considering all things equal, its a decision of esthetics at this point. There are slight performance gains with one over the other with equal clock speeds, but in general you will not see them unless you're stressing the system.

Core2 Duo outperforms the Turion chips by a wide margin. The Core Duo which is an earlier gen chip still beats the AMD mobile chips.

Check out the CPU charts on www.tomshardware.com to see for yourself.

And you will notice a difference in things like ripping CDs and DVDs.
