drunk player puts me all in
Playing live game 1-2 no limit.
My image was a semi-loose agressive player. Playing 7 handed. Guy had 5 beers in 1.5 hours. He had built his stack up to $300($200 max buy) I had a total of $275 with $100 in green. He had been raising most hands preflop to $10. I was in the BB. He was on the button. He raised $10 and got 3 callers including myself. I held Ah9h Flop is A-J-4 rainbow with 1 heart. I bet the pot of $30. Everyone folds around to him and he says all-in. I was suprised. He had not been going all-in. He had been min-raising if not betting. He said to me. "Call. I want those green chips." I responded "Oh really." I then began to ask him what he had. JJ. trips? etc. He carried on the conversation. I figured he would have shutup if he was bluffing. My thought process. 1) He was on a pure bluff. He had been betting a many pots on the flop. Most of the time .5 to full pot bets, but rarely over bet the the pot. 2) He floped something weird. I was thinking a set of 4s. Maybe even J-4. 3) A-10? protecting against a straight draw as a semibluf? I don't think he was that smart. He was playing table bully more than playing good cards, but I think he picked a hand up here and had me beat. I found the I want your green chips an odd comment. He hadn't been talking during hands and he starts during this hand?!?! I ended up folding. I think I had the best hand, but I knew I'd find a better spot to get all my chips in. Did I make the wrong play after betting $30? DId he view me as trying to steal the pot and played back at me? Should I have called with my last $260? Any advice or opinion would be welcome. |

Re: drunk player puts me all in
yea, I think this is a pretty easy fold. I mean, A9s isn't really a strong hand in this situation.
As for his comment "I want your green chips", I don't think anyone can make an educated decision about what this means without having played with the guy. |

Re: drunk player puts me all in
the $30 donkbet was pretty terrible dude.
i'm going to go against the grain and say i wouldn't hate a call here. while there are several better aces which he could be valueshoving, you noted he had been minraising and doing things like that typically. also, when average players take lines that are illogical, they tend to be bluffing. generally ask yourself in these spots: why would he do this? with what % of my range does he expect me to call? to fold? also, waiting for a better spot is bogus/scared logic. this isn't a goddamn tournament. you can rebuy and get in EVERY good spot. |

Re: drunk player puts me all in
I don't think a call would have been bad either. That's why I asked the question.
What would have been a better way to play the hand? Other than folding pre-flop, but as I said he was raising literally every pot. |

Re: drunk player puts me all in
I don't see how you can even consider calling here personally.. He probably had a4 or AJ minimum. His big overshove was probably to induce a call from a weaker ace.

Re: drunk player puts me all in
super ez fold. table talk confirms. an isolated allin is not a bluff.
5 beers in 90 minutes is definitely enough to affect your judgment. |
