Tis all the same really. Just a tad bit better players. Move up as soon as possible so you can get to baller status sooner. If you have 4 or 5 k you are good. Move back down at 2k. Other than that just keep working at it and dont feel like you wont ever make it there.

I didn't play many hands at NL100 simply because I accidently won a tournament and increased my bankroll from $2500 to $6500. Moved to NL200 and found out competition was quite awful there too, and I'm still playing NL200 despite now only having a $4000 roll after a recent withdrawal. Haven't even had two consecutive losing sessions in July, and it certainly helps to have AA holding up every single time this month (can't believe I just wrote this, I'm jinxed). Because competiton is mediocre, I'm gonna keep playing at NL200 until BR goes below $3K.

Most $100 players moving up will not find this. It is true that the standard at $200 is not dramatically better than at $100, but only very good players, capable of winning much higher than $200, will find the general standard "awful". It's all relative.

When I moved up, I found that a few of the regulars were better than me, whereas I didn't feel this way in the $100. The $200 game is the first level where I was regularly put in tricky spots: more 3 betting pre-flop, more floating of CBs, more raising of CBs etc. IMO, at $100 you can play your own cards and win; at $200 you have to outplay your opponents (at least the better ones).

An example hand

I am 16/10, Villain is similar and a tricky winning regular, $200 stacks
My HUD tells me that Villain calls and raises CBs a lot.

Hero is dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

6 folds
Hero raises to $8
Villain calls from Button
Blinds fold

Flop - J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Hero bets $13
Villain raises to $30
Hero re-raises to $80
Villain pushes
Hero folds

Villain shows Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Yes, you're right in a way. The competition is slightly better because the regulars are somewhat trickier. But the bad players are just as awful at NL200. In general, I switch table if I find TAG regs to my left (unless the rest of the table is juicy, of course) and I try not to battle against them. So, avoid certain players, and NL200 is actually not harder than NL100.
