Default TPTK - Turn raise = value bet or donk bet?

Villain here is 31/9/1, no reads available.

Looking at this hand now the way the opponent leads out on the turn seems to spell danger. Should I have just called down from there, or is raising the turn a value bet?

I think you played it fine. You're probably behind when he 3 bets the turn but you have to call down without a good read.

Turn is a pretty thin raise since he's passive and can have a bunch of better hands on this board. He also probably has a lot of equity when he's not best. Not really sure what I'd do there.

Once he 3-bets you should call but you can probably safely fold on the river, even though it's not fun to fold after building such a pot. People donk around but you raised UTG and he will nearly always be winning here.

Anyone with me on a turn fold? I'm all for showdowns, but unless I see that a guy is maniacal and will b/3b with one pair, the vast vast majority of 2/4 players will have you drawing thin if not dead. We certainly aren't ahead 16% of the time here to call 2 big bets (3b and riv).

someone posted that without reads this is a call down. I need a good read to call this down.

FTR: I raise the turn as u did, too.

With no reads I'm fine with calling down here because I don't want to get into this situation where I have to call down. It's the same thing if he had of led the flop. There is no point in raising right there.

So after 5 replies I have the following 5 different answers.

1. Raise OK then call 3-bet, then call river.
2. Should call turn, but after raising call 3-bet, then fold river.
3. No advice about turn raise but fold to 3-bet on turn.
4. Raise turn then fold to 3-bet.
5. Call turn, but after raising call down.

Thanks for clearing it up guys

It's no wonder this game confuses me

This is because you provide no reads and everybody is judging this from their point of view. We play different sites and different stakes and judge unknowns different. You should provide som postflop reads to get better answers.
