Default Top pair/nut flush draw; did I have to get it all in here?

I would like some feedback on how I played this.

$30 mtt deep stack. 4 players left at final table. $795000 in play. Hero(UTG): $156,850, Villain(BB): $251,331. Blinds 1500/3000, 300 ante.

As you can see no one is shortstacked at this point, but betting has been aggressive in recent hands. Villain is generally TAG, but has significantly opened up his play due to short-handedness.

Hero has A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I open-raise to 9000. SB,BB call. Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Its checked to me, I bet 9000. SB calls. BB raises to 25000. I call, SB folds. Turn: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain leads out 50,000. I raise all-in, 122,550 total. Villain calls, has J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. River is a brick and I'm out in 4th place.

I don't see any other way for me to have played the hand. Villain certainly could have been ahead on the flop w/ AK, 2 pair, or a set. But he could also have read my small flop bet as weak (less than 1/3 the pot) and I am drawing live no matter what he has.

Still with an M of over 50 to start, its hard to justify going broke with just a pair.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback you can offer.

Three-bet shove the flop.

You're always going to go broke there if you're playing decent poker.

Registrar,
Please describe a villains range where 3 bet shoving is better than getting it in on the turn. The way I see it, 3 bet shoving gives spades incorrect odds to call and it also might scare away a smaller ace since we were the PF raiser.

The chance alone that we might chase away spades is a huge loss for us.

OP,
You should have bet more on the flop to make it easier to get all of your chips into the middle. On an ace high board it is going to be tough to get action if your opponent does not have an ace or a draw so you want to make a pot sized bet (no one folds a pair of aces to a pot sized flop bet) to tie the villain to the pot.

He's got spades far less often than he's going to be bothered by spades.

I see your point but no turn card is going to see us fold this hand whereas I think lots of things can happen that will stop villain stacking off.
