Default Laying down big pairs at this level - Leak? NL$25

I'm often faced with situations like the following. I had no reads here and on this board should I be able to lay this down? Do you see single high diamond here (flush draw) to make calling the push EV+? I can't seem to give up my big pockets easily in situations like this. Does thinking change if you hold the King of diamonds? I also got lazy and should have re-raised a bit more as opposed to hitting the convenient "pot" button. Thoughts please.

King of diamonds is instacall. Here it's a close decision, you are drawing to runners and behind combo draws (I think) an unknown percentage of the time readless. A lot of opponents will have underpairs with or without a diamond. Without some info I would lay it down.

For future posts, I wouldn't show the turn or river here. All the money went in on the flop, those are the only cards worth showing.

For this hand, calling or folding to Villain's push is completely read dependent IMO.

Yeah, I get this situation all the time too. In fact, I had very similar situations about 3-4 times last night. Meaning I had a big pocket pair over all of the cards on the flop. Even disregarding the possible flush for a second, I've found that even at this level, when a villain goes all-in like this, they almost always have the goods (meaning a set or better). Add to this the possibility of a made flush, and you should be even more willing to fold this.

It's important to not completely fall in love with a pocket pair if you are facing strong resistance.

BTW, every time I had a strong over-pocket pair last night and faced an all-in, I called. To my dismay, EVERY TIME my opponent showed a set. Don't make the same mistake that I did here.

An exception to this would be if you have a strong read that your opponent might go all-in with a weak pair or some type of draw. But if villain is unknown, this is a fold.

checking flop here is OK. getting crai sucks and you probably have pretty bad equity, versus unknown fish you kind of have to call.....

If you're checking the flop, you're going to be raising any blank turn to a bet -- yes? I can only see it as an equity changer vs the range, where we're only a slight fave over any of villain's pf calling range that happens to have a diamond.

Personally, I think we've got plenty of equity in this pot and I make the call. I'm toast sometimes, but often enough good or in really good against a bluff.
