can you purchase comps for someone else?
sorry if this doesn't really belong here, but I wasn't sure where else and figured it was my best shot.
What I'm wondering is, is it possible to basically buy a comp for someone? what i'd like to do is have a casino in atlantic city invite my grandfather down to their casino for a weekend (send a limo to pick him up) and then have him have his stay and meals and everything comped. i'm 20, so i have no relationships with any casinos, but the reason why i would want it to be "comped" is so that he doesn't know that it's from me. He's 100% blue-collar from brooklyn and would never condone spending this if he knew about it. I was thinking $1k would easily cover that, but price isn't really an issue. Do you think it's possible, and if so how I would go about trying to set that up? Worst comes to worst I can wait a year until I turn 21, but his walking is deteriorating and I'd like to make sure this happens. thanks, jeff |

Re: can you purchase comps for someone else?
I'm thinking no, but you can probably buy an all expense trip for him somehow but it will take some foot(phone)work. Call the host or the concierge at a casino and see if they can arrange it somehow. However, I'm leaning towards not possible to very difficult

Re: can you purchase comps for someone else?
I think your best bet is to say you won some contest or something and tell him you want him to have it. Set up the limo and room. The Borgata has a gift card which you can use anywhere in the casino, get one of those for like $500 and he's set for food and booze and whatever.

a casino host can do this without any problems. He doesn't need to know who the benefactor is, but I think he has to leave a credit card for room incidentals. By the way, your a nice grandchild!

[/ QUOTE ] thanks, i guess I'll call the Taj (that's where old people go?) and try to set it up. and i'm not that good; a major part of this is probably guilt over not really seeing him more than a few days a year or having a real relationship. |

I'm no psych major, but hopefully this will help. Guilt or no guilt, it's a great gesture.

Worse comes to worst you can always tell him you won it somehow but can't take advantage because you are not yet 21 right?

And hopefully he doesn't enjoy it so much that he calls the casino a week later for another free trip.
This sounds like a sitcom script or something. |

this can be done easily.
make some phone calls, describe the situation, and a casino will accomodate you. |
