Default SNG\'s to Cash Games/My Introduction

Warning: Kinda long

First, I would like to say hello and thank you to everyone who posts here. I have lurked for several weeks, and have found so many things here and in uNL very helpful. I look forward to making positive contributions here in the future.

Poker started for me about 2 years ago when a former roommate introduced me to Party Poker. I had no idea about the game and just watched over his shoulder for a couple of weeks as he played micro stakes Pot Limit Hold'em. I then started a play money account at UB and played every night after work for a couple of hours, as I was single and didn't really have much else to do I lurked PocketFives.com and found that most people recommended beginners to read some books. My first was Super System 2, followed by HOH 1 & 2 and some of SSHE. Around this same time I made my first of several $50 deposits on Stars, Party, and UB eventually losing it all as I had no idea of bankroll management. Eventually I found some success playing SNG's and continued to do so until recently. During this time I took a couple of lessons from a highly regarded SNG specialist who goes by the name of Jennifear (Jennifear.com) who writes a column at pocketfives. After a couple of years my stats look like this:

Full Tilt

and:

Poker Stars

Recently, I have felt the urge to play cash games. So I bought Poker Tracker and PAHUD and gave myself $60.00 on Poker Stars to play .01/.02 NL. I began 4-tabling and @ 10,000 hands I was up to $100.00. I have now played 5,000 hands at .02/.05 NL and thanks to the nature of variance I am back to $60.00

I have money on 3 sites devoted to cash games, and it breaks down like this:

Stars: $60.00
Ultimate Bet: $200.00
Full Tilt: $50.00

I know I’m rolled for .05/.10 NL total, but would prefer to build the Stars money up a bit before I take a shot at .05/.10 on Full Tilt with only 5 buy-ins.

I am now trying to make the switch to cash all the time and I need all the advice I can get. The stickies here and at uNL have been very helpful, but I would love to hear some responses from some of you personally. I am also interested in talking to some of you more experienced micro stakes cash game players via AIM if you can spare the time. You can pm me for my screen name if you are willing to spare a little time.

Even though I have been playing recreationally for a couple of years, I still feel like a beginner and that’s why I am humble enough to post here .

Thanks for your time in reading and I look forward to all responses and general micro stakes cash game advice.

When speaking of bankroll managment, the term "bankroll" refers not to the amount of money you have in a site, but the amount of money you can ever use to play poker.

So for determining the level to pay at you can add all the sites up. And if you bust this money will you redeposit? If the answer is yes, then BR limits don't really apply to you.

In terms of learning cash games, the standard 2+2 line applies: read, post, and play. Buy books that cover the subjects and games you want to play. Read and post hands in the strat forums regularly. Keep playing, because nothing can take the place of experience.

Welcome, and good luck.
