Table Selection
Hello,
I know that Table selection is probably the most important thing after money management. Anyone has a website or a video where they explain 'table selection' pretty well ? I always have a problem to understand that thing. thx a lot. |

Re: Table Selection
50NL and below
<ul type="square">[*]Sit at any table with normal or better avg pot size[*]If you have LAGs or light 3-bettors on your left, consider getting up.[*]If the table seems like a nitfest, get up.[*]If there are more than two short stacks, get up.
100NL and above <ul type="square">[*]See above[*]Use datamining software to gather data on opponents[*]Preselect good tables with special software (see software forum)[*]Keep a buddy list of huge donators you've played with or have found in your DB so you can sit with them and isolate them
Anyone else have things to add? This could be a good thread. |

Re: Table Selection
On stars I don't get the benefit of data mining, so I go into tables with just the stats they give me. I like to have high pots and high % saw flop. I'll also check the instant hand history when I join to see if the pots are big due to big hands showing down a couple times, or if there is a huge donator at the table.

Re: Table Selection
the 50NL advice is spot on. I would add I look for a table that has a "see flop percentage" over 40% during the US evening and over 35 % during the day (Eastern US time). I also avoid more than 2 short-stacks, especially since they're the ones usually putting the money in the pot.

Re: Table Selection
I keep notes on every player I play with also so I see if there is anyone I have stats on or notes on. I target the same fish over and over

Find the kind of player who'll just call your psbs on every street when you have tpgk / overpair and only play back at you with a monster. If you have a pool of these types of players all you need is patience to make the monies. |

Re: Table Selection
Another sort of related thing I do is color code players in Full Tilt with observed reads. If a specific hand in our history is relevant, I will keep a note of that as well.
Light blue = floater Dark blue = check-raiser Red = TAG or reg Green = Fish Etc. |
