Default Home Chip Set Preferences

A couple of things... I am getting ~100 chips or so to put custom labels on as "award chips" for our upcoming poker league and I would like some suggestions as to which chips would be best for this.

Also, I have been thinking about a 1000 chip set (will this do for up to 30 players?) and would like recommendations.

Money is a big issue and right now I'm thinking about nexgen 8000's or Pro Clay 13g chips... I was also wondering about the Royale and Coconut Tree Ceramics... are they any good?

you realize that they're packed by mass, not by volume?

I guess I don't understand... For shipping cost?

Anyone know if discountcasinogear.com is any good? They have pro-clays for .13 and nexgens for .12

The folks over at Chiptalk really know their stuff when it comes to specific chip types.

Yes, you can run a 30-player game with a 1000 chip set, no problem.

I run a T5000 home tournament with the following starting stacks:

8*25
8*100
6*500
1*1000

23 chips per player. I allow each player one rebuy so have more T1000 chips than I would otherwise need.

Even if money is tight, do not use the same chips if you also play cash games.

when i was shopping around for chipsets i bought 50 of the 13g 'clays' to compare with others. they feel a bit more rubbery than the nexgens and for some reason are slightly thicker than other chips - i could only fit a stack of 19 into my racks. theyre not a bad chip, though, and if you dont use racks you wont have any problems. personally, id go with the nexgens...

i've ordered from discountcasinogear like 10 times, and have never had any problems.

Order samples if you are concerned. If money is an issue, order from these folks as they are having a big sale:

Hot stamped super diamonds are .07 each at 5stardeal.com:

These are cheap and secure. If you want to pay an additional $75 (I think) you can get a custom hot stamp for added security.

Also, check out my site for your league: www.homepokertour.com

I actually was able to feel some chips in person earlier today. Believe it or not, there was a poker kiosk at the mall, they had the 13g pro clay's, the 14g AK's, and the Nexgen 8000's Lucky Bee's and River Tour's. I also got to feel the Paulson All-Stars and Super Diamonds and Regular Diamonds.

I was really quite impressed with the Nexgen 8000 chips and not so impressed with the 13g chip... it seemed very plasticy and the nexgen had much more texture to it. The super diamonds felt quite nice and I was actually not extremely impressed with the paulson chips! I liked the 8000's more than the more expensive River Tour nexgens. What I didn't get to feel were any ceramic chips... nevada jacks, coconut tree, or grand royale.

For my set I'm contemplating the super-diamond or Faux Clay Dice chips... Has anyone felt/used the Faux Clay Dice chips? The only down-sides are -no recessed center -no side-marks

I might splurge for some coconut tree or grand royales depending on their feel.

I will likely be using the Nexgen 8000's as shuffling/reward chips.
