Settle This Fight Debate.
The conditions are as follows:
-Both fighters have the same body type, same skill set, nobody has a clear advantage over the other. -You cannot use any outside weapons, bite, or do anything other than use the weapons you have. -You can use the weapons in any way you'd like. -It is a fight to the death. Now which weapon would you take: A single butterfly knife or a standard Louisville slugger. Each weapon is to be used against the other weapon. Please explain your answers. |

Re: Settle This Fight Debate.
I'm thinking Knife and it isn't close...
Explanation: If we're talking about the exact same person fighting himself then the agility and simple deadliness of the knife will outweigh the slugging of the bat...(i.e. when the slugger is winding up, the knife moves in for the kill) |

Re: Settle This Fight Debate.
I'll take the knife. He can pound my off arm with the bat all he wants while I shank him over and over.

Re: Settle This Fight Debate.
The better the fighters are, the more they should prefer knife. A conditioned experienced fighter can probably take a hit from a bat (mostly deflected I guess) in order to get close enough to use a knife. Or a really big guy could take it. 2 regular shmoes, more likely to never make it in close.

Re: Settle This Fight Debate.
FWIW, my selection of bat is strongly influenced by the fact that I played baseball for years and can handle a bat pretty well but I've never been in anything remotely resembling a knife fight.

[ QUOTE ]
I'll take the knife. He can pound my off arm with the bat all he wants while I shank him over and over. [/ QUOTE ] You think you could easily get close enough to stab him once, much less over and over, while he keeps a distance and has the giant reach advantage over you? If someone's coming at me with a knife and I have a bat, I don't think they're going to get too close to me without getting hit somewhere. And if I hit you once, very hard, in the arm/hand, I doubt you're still going to be hanging onto that knife. [ QUOTE ] knife, still relatively easy to stab while he swings at me [/ QUOTE ] How do you figure? He's going to be swinging slow and inaccurately? Keep in mind, you can easily stab someone in a place where they can keep fighting. Let's say you stab someone in the side and he tees off on your head. It should be game over by then, shouldn't it? |
