How do you play low pocketpairs?
Hi!
I often find myself wondering if i should call that minraise just for the set value with 22-99 pocket pairs. So i'd like to know how do you play them. At the beginning of the SNG, middle and on the bubble. Also how do you play them regarding your current position (button, blinds, CO, ...). And how do you play them shortstacked or deepstacked (if there is any difference in playing them, regarding your stack)? Many thanks! Br, darks |

Re: How do you play low pocketpairs?
During 10/20 and 15/30 I am a small pocket pair donk, if the raise is under 120 I'm deffinately calling, over depends on implied odds. During 25/50 I'm more selective with playing for set value. 50/100 and above I pretty much don't play pp's for set value.

Re: How do you play low pocketpairs?
Early on, I limp them if I am very confident that I can see a flop for less than 1/10th of either my stack or a villian's stack (whichever is smaller).
Later, it depends, but if I'm shortstacked I'm shoving. If I'm deepstacked I raise and evaluate. |

Re: How do you play low pocketpairs?
tough question. early i call minraises, regardless of position i play them for set value.in middle stages -depending obv on villains and stack size- i often raise w minpairs, too.Try to play them v carefully.Later stages if 6-7BB< shove, >10 fold (22-77), shove (77-...). I`m not investing that much in set value though

Re: How do you play low pocketpairs?
Early I just fold, they're not worth the bother. Middle stage depends entirely on the situation at the table. Later and shorthanded these are monsters, but again depends on reads, stack sizes, position, etc...
Playing them for set value just based on your stack size vs. villians stack for the implied odds isn't always smart. There's no guarantee you're going to stack him if you hit the set. Often people IMO overestimate their implied odds in these situations. |

I agree about the overestimation of implied odds.
