Default 2nd pair facing river PSB

Villain thought for a second and potted the river, with no reads, is this more likely an ace or a busted FD?

I'd rather call the flop because we can't really narrow down his range if he calls a flop raise. If the board was rainbow then a raise makes more sense. But, since he called the raise we can't be sure if he has a flush draw or Ax (or a monster) and now we have bloated a pot and set us up for a difficult river decision.

If we just call we probably scare a King or flush draw into checking on the turn and we can make a better river decision in a smaller pot with a marginal holding.

So call flop, and if they bet turn, fold, if they check, bet for value/pot control/ to check behind on riv?
