Default Jamie Gold at 2007 WSOP?

Hey everyone I was just wondering if Jamie Gold has shown his face yet at the World Series? I'm curious how well he will be received in light of the whole controversy with last years win an all.

yes, he's here and playing - haven't talked to him.

but most ppl who have interacted and/or played with him have said that it's a very different JG than the guy we saw on TV last year. The experience seems to have made him realize what a big dick he came across as, and he has apparently been going out of his way to undo the damage that that portrayal did to his character.

Jamie was the honorary starter to the series, giving the old "shuffle up and deal" before event no. 1. To answer your question, he was roundly jeered in the room. To his credit, he sort of laughed it off and said something to the effect of "I wish you all the good luck I had last year" or something to that effect.

I don't think he's played many (any?) events since the first week. My completely uninformed guess as to why is that he expected more of a hero's welcome, and to be respected and looked up to by people he was playing against, but I'm guessing most players are either ignoring him at the table or worse. I certainly wouldn't be one to congratulate him or chat him up.

So he probably didn't like how he was being received too well. That's my guess, and I guess in light of TeddyFBI's post, it might be a bad one.

I crippled him in the first PL event when I caught him bluffing and he went on a mini-rant about what a horrible call it was and how "no one else in the room would have made that call." I enjoyed it a great deal.
