Default free coaching

one of the Full Ring regulars has talked about giving free coaching to help solidify his game, and has recently PMed me to ask if offering free coaching is allowed.

Can anyone clue me in on any rules/restrictions/usual process for this?

i can't think of a possible reason why free coaching would be forbidden. we let people have "review sessions" "study groups" and dispense IM addresses.

also, because forbidding it would be the stupidest thing ever.

Allowing free coaching is just a slipperly sloap to other scary stuff lke "free hugs"and "being nice".

WE CANNOT STAND FOR THIS.

On a serious note, I sont like posts with free coaching, as to me its just a clever way to say :hey, Im a coah, now you know" and is borderline spam

The uNL/SSNL mods did a free session review for random uNL posters awhile back. Something like that is OK IMO. But, like EMc says, alot of these free coaching offers is just a gateway to paid coaching.

In other news, a poster asked if I'd link to his hand converter, which is hosted at his coaching site. What say you?

I'm pretty sure that's a no. Mat has posted before that you can't link to your own site, especially when the link is designed to drive traffic to your commercial (coaching) enterprise.

cit,

I agree that free coaching is fine, but then again, I also think that 2+2 members should be able to promote the fact that they coach.

As far as free coaching goes, if I sold coaching services and this was explicitly allowed, first thing I'd do is start making a post like "Free coaching for one new student per week!" Seems like any non-moron coaches would figure that out pretty quick, turning this into a marketing opp for coaches.

Just pointing that out, I don't think it's a big deal and will once again voice my support for letting coaches discuss and promote their coaching services here.
