where should i go in FL if i only got a $500-1000 roll?
wheres the cheapest buyin in a NL game in FL? ($50 or less) should i buyin 10 times into the NL game, or am i better playing $2-5 limit? would u think it would still be possible to average $50-100 a day in them lower limits, and maybe have my bankroll up to $1500-2000 within a month? id prefer a $2-10 spread limit game once my roll passed $1000, but i still cant find a casino offering it.

I don't know if Florida finally got rid of their ridiculous state limits, but enjoy playing $2-2 at the Hard Rock or some dog track.

Re: where should i go in FL if i only got a $500-1000 roll?
edge34 - see the 7 zillion other threads about this.
Beginning July 1 Florida has legalized all kinds of different stakes (seems to be depending on how the different rooms are interpreting the new legislation). There were reports of big NL games on the first day with some big-time money at stake. As for sevencard's question - I don't know if this required a new thread and I don't really have any opinion on the matter. I think he should pretty much play wherever he feels like. Obviously $1k is not a particularly big bankroll that can withstand much variance. |

Re: where should i go in FL if i only got a $500-1000 roll?
My guess is that NL is where the better action will be.
I don't know if the rake on 2/5 limit will make it too tough to beat with how bad the players there are but it might be a bit closer to that. In the other thread with people posting their day 1 Fla experiences I thought i read someone mention a .5/1 NL game with $30 buy-in or something but I don't know where this was. I don't feel like trying to find it but if you search in the 1 or 2 threads started today about Florida poker you should be able to find it. |

Re: where should i go in FL if i only got a $500-1000 roll?
TAMPA GREYHOUND offers a 1-2 NO LIMIT game with a buy-in of $60.......but they have a timed rake of 12 bucks an hour.
With the donkeys down here, take your chances in at least a 1-2 NO LIMIT game with a rake. TAMPA GREYHOUND offers a 2-3 NOLIMIT with a 100 buy-in that is better for the timed rake but would be a tad to high for your BR. Every venue offers 1-2 NO LIMIT.......although you could certainly do so, losing getting down 800 more at the beginnng of your quest would be a large underdog if your an above average player. Please note however, I lost 213 on opening day at DERBY.... |

Edge,
The Isle of Capri (Pompano Park) has 1/2 NL with a min of $50. You can't ask for more than that. |

does the isle of capri play with a rake instead of a time charge? considering ill be playing very tight and only winning 1 pot at hour, i sure dont wanna pay $12 an hour in time charges.

Re: where should i go in FL if i only got a $500-1000 roll?
well by professional i mean its my only income not counting SSI. and i spend 10-12 hrs a day online at it. and im a winning player online of close to $5000 a year. but i do better in LIVE CASH games, and thats why id love to relocate to FL now. and im not sure what bankroll id arrive in FL with, probably a little bit over $1200, but once i find a place to sleep for a week or a month, i may be down to only 15 buyins for the $50 min buyin in the $1-2 NL. thats kinda why im thinking about $2-5 limit instead of NL. ive had lots of experience in wendover NV in the past beating $1-5 spread limit holdem with just a $1 blind, and also beating $1-5 stud ONLY WITHOUT AN ANTE though. and since im on SSI i could be perfectly satisfied to win as little as $33 a day (which is $990 a month). im thinking my roll, after i get settled in will be down from a little below $1500 to more like $750, but dont really know for sure exactly what ill be left with. however, i do think if i pick the right casino and not play over my bankroll, i can rebuild my roll to $2000 within the first 60-90 days.
