Default 5/10 Live Awkward Spot

This is from a 5/10 NL game at the Rio. Villain is one of the more solid players at the table, which isn't saying terribly much. I've been playing what I'd consider a very TAG play, but because this is loose passive live poker, the table is regarding me as a little over-aggressive.

The very first hand of the game, Villain raised to $35 UTG, I made it $120 with KK, and he called. He check-called $200 on a rag flop and check-folded to a pot-sized all in on the turn. That's the only significant pot we've played together.

The hand in question:
Villain straddles $20 on the button, so I'm first to act from the SB. I raise to $70 with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], and only Villain calls. Flop Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], I bet $120, and he calls. The turn is a blank, there's like $390 in the pot, and Villain has about $650 behind. Hero?

Bet(250)/fold. If he calls then you have a tough river but so be it.

If you bet $250 and villain shoves, the pot will be $1300 and you want hero to fold middle pair + an over card on a board with straight and flush draws possible getting 3.25/1?

I dont like that line.

I like hero's open amount, but I'd prefer he bet less on the flop to keep the pot smaller so it doesn't get bloated if villain calls. We're OOP and don't want to play a big pot with this hand/board.

OP, I'd bet $80 on the flop, $150 on the turn, and re-evaluate from there. You said the table sees you as a little over-aggro iirc, so there's nothing wrong betting a little less aggressively in this spot.

From my very small casino experience i've always got the impression that people just does not fold in blind vs blind/blind vs straddle or whatever.

I could very much see this as a float or weak hand and i do not want to bet/fold for 250 as one post advised.
As played i probably c/r ai.

I don't know if i understand the button straddle btw.

After the hand, I regretted not check-raising all in. I also regretted betting so large on the flop, for the reasons Tx pointed out. Despite the pot odds, I went for bet 240 with plan of folding to a shove, because I felt if the guy had chosen to play a draw passively on the flop, he wasn't the sort to get aggro with it on the turn when he can't expect much fold equity. Frankly, he wasn't the sort to be aggro with a draw period. I think his shoving range is mostly QJ, KQ, AQ, and sets. Which is to say I'm often drawing dead or to 2-3 outs.

River was a blank, off-suit deuce or something. Now $870 in pot, Villain has $430 or so in his stack. Shove, check-call, or check-fold?
