Re: Should i call?
Fold to raise preflop in my opinion. KJo out of pos so easily dominated. You raise preflop because the table is tight, fair enough. But calling the raise is bad IMO, and calling his all in bet when he´s got you covered and all you have is a gutshot and a flushdraw is not something I would recommend.

Re: Should i call?
Well, I'm a rookie, so take this with a grain of salt, but let me take a stab to get the conversation going.
You have a pre-flop re-raise from the button at a tight table. Assuming the button believes in the gap concept, he has to have better than what he would have opened with EP. To me, that means his opening range is something like TT+, AKs, maybe AQs. I would read a shove at this point as trip tens or a paired ace with a king kicker who wants you to fold a flush draw. From your perspective, you have 12 outs twice, which should give you about 44% chance to win (a formula I read in HOH sez multiply outs by four, subtract outs over eight). This against 2-1 pot odds (your 7k against 14k you can win in the pot). So as a pot odds problem, this seems to be an easy call. But you have to balance that against the question, "Is this the hand I want to risk my tournament life on?" Overall, however, I think this hand exactly illustrates the point that Harrington constantly makes about playing marginal hands out of position: You might pick up some extra chips this way, but unless you are an expert player you will often find yourself making huge, difficult decisions that you are not really qualified to make. It's just not worth it (no offense to any expert LAGs out there who would be able to play this hand). |

Re: Should i call?
Yeah, this hand was just played poorly unfortunately. You shouldn't be raising with KJ in early position, unless you think you can steal- it's just too easily dominated (JJ-AA, KQ, AK). But, if you are trying to steal here, then you can't just double the blind with it when you're in early position. After that, fold to the raise IMO. You probably have 12 outs at this point (with his overbet, i put him on JJ, or QQ). It's gutsy to call at this point, considering you're covered, but you're getting almost 2 to 1, and you're close to 50% to hit with 2 cards to come, so I'd call the all-in.

"Is this the hand I want to risk my tournament life on?"
this sentence is a bad way to play the game ... removes a necessary edge ... |

Re: Should i call?
I thought the rest of Cheburashka's post was pretty good. I'd call as he's clearly trying to blow you off a draw and you've got to think the 4 Q's would win the pot too.

Re: Should i call?
LOL @ minraises.
Okay, so a steal on a tight table isn't bad idea if you put in a decent raise. Personally, I'd rather steal from late position with ATC than KJo from early. Definitely don't call the big reraise for 30% of ur stack OOP. What kinda flop were u hoping for??? As played, I probably call the all-in since it looks sooo much like a big PP/AK/AQ that isn't holding a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Gotta get the lucky double up sometime and the pot odds are good enough for me. If I loose this pot then GG and learn not to minraise KJo OOP and call a big reraise |
