So I wasn't paying attention and didn't even realize that Queens of the Stone Age have a new album coming out in a couple weeks (June 12) until I happened to hear Sick Sick Sick on Ethel this morning. I'm surprised they have a new album out so soon, but it's a great surprise for sure.

You can stream the new single (Sick Sick Sick) on QOTSA.com (they have clips on the flash screen, but the full song plays when you go on to the main page. My first impression is that it's not Homme's best effort, but pretty solid and I'm excited to hear the rest of the album. It sounds raw and should make for a great record.

"3's & 7's" (another song on the album that they leaked) is a better song, but I am a sucker for anything QotSA so of course I love Sick Sick Sick as well.

I'm not a big fan of their music, but I saw them open for NIN in Philadelphia and they're about the tightest band I've ever heard.

If you pre-order from Insound, they're offering a "free CD single, with the exclusive track 'The Fun Machine Took A [censored] And Died'". I don't know if it's just one track or if it'll have maybe two or three. Best Buy often has these kinds of things, though. I wish I could know if BB would have this same deal so I can just go pick up the album that day instead of ordering online.

Alright, kids, you've had a couple days now. Who's on it?

This is an awesome album. "3's & 7's" is a [censored] awesome song. My favorite. 5 stars. "Sick Sick Sick" is... pretty sick. I'm also really liking "Into the Hollow." The rest of the album is pretty solid, too. It's got kind of a Desert Sessions feel to it. I guess it makes sense that "Make It Wit Chu" made it onto this album, then.

If you get it from Best Buy, you get a free download. I'm pissed, though, because it's [censored] WMA and it's all loaded up with DRM. I couldn't even get it to play. What a crock.

Overall another great album. I don't see why more people aren't into QotSA.
