Default Small Blind Defense, and Value Betting For Fun and Profit

This is actually an 8 max table, but we're playing w/ 6 right now

Poster is an unknown (LDO)
Button is a lag, 37/20 with a 40% Attempt to steal% after something like 60 hands
BB is apparently a LP fish, with a 50% or so VPIP after about 30 hands.

Full Tilt Poker
Limit Holdem Ring game
Limit: $5/$10
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
2 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button raises, Hero 3-bets that [censored], BB calls, CO calls, Button calls.

Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (10SB, 4 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, CO calls, Button calls.

Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7BB, 4 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, CO calls, Button calls.

River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (11BB, 4 players)
Hero bets that [censored]

Edited because March is a spelling nit.

Re-Edited because Benny is a nit.

Is it correct to 3-bet preflop, if we know that BB is coming along a lot of the time?

We are probably chopping at best, after 3 players call flop & turn, so I'm not sure I like a river bet. This [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] just makes me want to really puke, so we are folding to a raise from BB or CO. I dunno, I think it's thin.

If I called or folded, I would think BB calls a whole lot. I couldn't really tell you about how often he'll call in the BB in this sample. More than he should? Sure. "A lot?" Whatever that means to you, well, I don't know. Since the board's unpaired, another A8 is a small part of large ranges, so I think we chop quite rarely.

I lol'd.

Betting that [censored] is awesome on the river, but only if we're folding that [censored] to a raise.

Oh, we're folding that [censored] like a [censored] to a raise on the river, and probably the turn, too. Flop is close.

I don't know the answer, but I think 3-betting is the best choice although it's close. Button's range is pretty wide, so we're close to that. Since CO checked, he might fold for two more and there should be some chance BB will fold as well. I think if we call, we are setting ourselves up for a 4-way pot, and I don't know if I want to fold against a steal from the LAG.

What are your thoughts?

I assume this ^^ is all jacked up.

With button being a lag, I think checking and snapping off a bluff, or chopping is better than being pushed off your hand. Although you are in kind of a funny situation where you might want overcallers on the river, but then again, you might not.

I assume button was the lag and would pump a good draw here so I'm not that worried about him having hearts. I could see him chasing 2 pair or a gutshot here though. I was going to say check to induce from all of the missed gutshots and such, but I would rather be called with all of the paired K and not just value bet when they have hearts.

There is one danger here though. If the button is a good player and knows you are a good player, he could raise this river, even after a couple of callers with a weaker A.
