Default Relaxing places to go to get FREE internet?

I'd like to go to a place with my laptop and just chill and play poker. However, all the starbucks require you pay and login to something. So does the barnes and nobles near my area. I cannot think of another place besides a book store or coffee shop that would have this? Any ideas?

It would help to know where you lived.

Try a non-starbucks cafe. Pretty much everyone I've been in in the last 5 years has free internet, just buy a cofee and sit all day.

I don't think playing poker for anything other than micro stakes is a very good idea when using a free internet service.

I have no idea what kind of security they have set up, and I doubt if you asked them they would know either.

I never had any problems when I did this.

Just take some kinds of precautions and don't show off to everyone there that you're playing 50/100 or something.

Another option is to get one of the Verizon Braodband Wireless (or Sprint of Cingular or whatever) cards and then you can go to Starbucks or wherever else without having to use their service.
Of course the Verizon service isn't free in itself. But it's my lone internet source and I have to pay for that anyway.
I'm prett happy with it.

Don't have to pay $10/day for internet at hotels or airports that are more and more not letting you get it for free anymore either.

A site that lists some/most of the wifi hotspots (free and pay) by city/region is jiwire.com

I had the Verizon wireless card service before. It was pretty terrible for me; I could barely connect in my own house and it was slow elsewhere as well. I might be interested in trying another company but not sure yet. Stupid Verizon had a $180 cancellation fee. They must make a ton of that considering they are providing a service in my area that is horrible.

Wouldn't playing micro stakes pose the same risk that playing any stakes would? Mainly that your password would get stolen?
