Default Full Tilt makes mistake, admits it, forces me to pay for it

cliff's notes: full tilt screws up, admits they made a mistake costing my friend $60-$70 in rakeback, but they don't care and won't reimburse him.

ok, so it's actually my friend having this problem, but he just lurks here and might not get any credibility. i talk to him on aim almost every day and believe him 100% when he told me this story.

he's a regular at 1/2 and 2/4nl on full tilt and has generated over $3k in rake since starting his account recently. he finally decided he wanted to cash some profits out, so he e-mailed full tilt asking for a check. they responded "send in driver's license+utility bill", he responded with "here they are, send me a check for $5k plz", full tilt responded with "go to the cashier and do a withdrawal and we'll send you a check."

my friend does this, and the next morning he has $5,000 in epassporte, which doesn't help given that he would have to move that to his bank account $300 at a time while being charged for each transaction. he then re-deposits the money back into full tilt so they can send him a check like they were supposed to. my friend also asks to be reimbursed for the deposit fees since the money going to epassporte was not his fault.

(for those who don't know, ftp reduces your MGR for deposit fees, which are some % of your deposits; so, when my friend redeposits $5,000, a 5% deposit fee (i don't know the exact amount, someone can tell me) will cause his mgr to be reduced by $250, which will cost him $67.50 in rakeback this month)

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your email to Full Tilt Poker Support.

We apologize for the error made in withdrawing your funds to your
ePassporte account instead of withdrawing your funds by check as you
requested. That being said, I have updated your account notes and
indicated that you would like all future withdrawals to be processed to
check.

If you wish to change your withdrawal method in the future, please send
us an email 1 - 2 days before your withdrawal request and we will
change the withdrawal method on your account.

As a goodwill gesture we have credited your account with a $26 SET. A
Satellite Entry Token - or SET - is a token that allows the holder to
register in a Sit 'N Go or multi table tournament without using cash.
It can be used to enter a $24 + $2 tournament.

However, we will not be reimbursing you for any fees incurred by
re-depositing your funds on the Full Tilt Poker site. That was a
decision that you made. You could have requested these funds from
ePassporte directly.

Best of luck at the tables Steve, and if there is anything else we can
assist you with, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Myrna

In your e-mail, you said:

"However, we will not be reimbursing you for any fees incurred by

It is not possible to request funds directly from ePassporte without
incurring any fees, on top of which is the fact that I am limited to
$300 per withdrawal. This means it would take 17 transactions (not to
mention a VERY long time, given that each withdrawal takes a few
business days; I can't wait months to receive this money), each of which
I would be charged for, to cash out that money from ePassporte. As soon
as your company sent the $5,000 to ePassporte you placed me in a
situation where it is impossible for me to access that money without
paying for it. That is not a situation I should be held responsible for.

I appreciate the goodwill shown by giving me the $26 satellite token and
I hope we can come to an amicable settlement of this situation.

Steve

This is a very common issue it seems...

FTP ignores changing you from epass to check after they verify ID even though thats why you where verifying them in the first place.

I was a lucky one and just had my check withdraw declined untill i resent a email requesting my withdraw method changed.

FTP stance on no reimbursement is very stupid at the very least they should give him a 100 bonus or something to fix this.

I would contact FTPDoug or FTPSean on this one.

FT clearly admits that the player did actually request cashout by check and they they are the ones who screwed-up.

Screwing him out of $250-ish over their mistake is completely inappropriate.

They didn't screw him out of $250 cash. They screwed him out of rakeback on the $250 MGR they deducted for the deposit fees.

They should've just given him a $100+whatever token instead... it's not like he's not going to keep playing there if he cashes in that tournament.
