Smooth Calling Raises With Aces (6 max)
So after suffering another brutal beat after 'trapping' someone with aces (smooth called raise vs. KQ, guy hits runner runner queens), I decided to look over some stats.
Despite aces being my most profitable hand, to date I have lost about 300$ (each time I got stacked) from smooth calling raises with aces (villain would hit two pair or set). Yet I have yet to make a single penny from doing this. So obviously I'm really questioning this strategy. It's not something I always do, usually I'll 3 bet but smooth calling is something I've been experimenting with but it's having disastrous results so far. Any thoughts or comments? Is this just variance and over the long haul smooth calling from time to time with rockets can be +EV? Just seems like every time I do it I get burned. |

Re: Smooth Calling Raises With Aces
Raise > Call when it comes to EV. your opponents are not paying attention anyway.

Just 3bet them.
I'd only consider smooth calling someone else's 3bet with them. |

[/ QUOTE ]That's because AA is a big RIO hand in a raised pot. Either you win a little or lose alot. Just play straight forward. There is no reason to get tricky at the micros. Just raise, raise, raise your good hands and value bet well. That is the whole key to winning at the micros. |

Re: Smooth Calling Raises With Aces
Ok 3 bet but what about the NLHE principle of trapping? Why can't I just get one hand where villain raises with AQ for ex. Flop comes queen high and I stack him lol ?

Re: Smooth Calling Raises With Aces
Not 3betting with Aces is criminal. You deserve to lose as much money as possible whenever you don't.
