general theory: OVERBETS
Im trying to figure out overbets/considering using them a little more (or ever)...
obv its good to 'overbet' pf so you screw someones set odds in a 3bet bot and also i feel like people overbet flops mostly in 3bet+ pots... i think these issues and what types of boards/hands/opponents/stacks etc you think are good/bad for overbets is a good start, also if you feel like it explaining your reasons for answering the polls a certain way (esp question 2) would be good. (i have some other thoughts but i will wait till i contribute more) thanks guys, rand |

Re: general theory: OVERBETS
guys, this may help in clarifying my [censored] post...
[ QUOTE ] question 1 is useless, if a sucky player is overbetting it's fine and if a good player is overbetting it's tough, just like any poker tactic. (i hate when a good player check-raises me, but it's fine if a fish does) question 2 is presented in a terrible way. no one overbets a high % of total bets and no one would actually be able to accurately say what % of their bets are overbets. i make significant overbets maybe 2-3% of the time? i dunno, i know it isn't anywhere near 15% and besides the craziest manaics (who obviously don't post here) no one else is making overbets nearly enough to answer anyting but <15% if they are thinking reasonably. question 3 is again useless. [/ QUOTE ] for 1 i think it is implied that you evaluate the overbet vs the defualt option of a regular bet FROM THE SAME PLAYER, so if its a good player is an overbet harder or easier for you to play against 2-i guess i agree and i worded it poorly, its not meant to be a percentage of total bets, but in situations where an overbet is a reasonable choice-how often do you use it? 3 i see as useful for several reasons, the most important is the fact that its helpful to understand trends in general... |

Re: general theory: OVERBETS
I think it's dumb to overbet flops in reraised pots.

Re: general theory: OVERBETS
I find these threads kinda interesting but they are too generalized to ever get anything practical out of them
