Heads Up Tournament Blinds Structure Question
Hi all,
I'm hosting a HU single elimination tournament at my house in about a month, and am trying to figure out an appropriate blinds schedule. Our regular NL MTTs begin with 3000 chips and a 25/50 level. I'd like to start this tournament somewhere in that neighborhood, but I don't know how to escalate the blinds as each full round concludes. I'd like each individual match to last somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 to 90 minutes, and I expect around 20 to 30 players. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I could structure the blinds to accomplish this, or have a link I could consult? Thanks, --TFGoose |

Re: Heads Up Tournament Blinds Structure Question
How often do you raise the blinds?
If it's 15 minutes: 25/50 50/100 100/200 200/400 300/600 400/800 500/1k After an hour they'd be playing at an M of 5ish if they have pretty much stalemated. I really think any HU tournament should last longer then what you have allotted though. |

Re: Heads Up Tournament Blinds Structure Question
Just make it 20 minutes a level and they should last about an hour with the blinds LJ made.
Don't forget live play takes a lot longer than online play, so 20 minute blinds are probably closer to 7-10 minutes of online. |

Re: Heads Up Tournament Blinds Structure Question
This is a pretty good website for planning a HU tourney. They've even got Bracket info on there.
http://www.homepokertourney.com/heads-up.htm I use full tilts HU structure for my 12 man HU tourneys, 1500 in chips with levels moving up every twenty minutes. Giving every table enough time for a good ammount of hands each level. |

Given 15 minute sessions, you are really only going to see 10-20 (20 at max) hands per round. I really don't feel that this is playing poker in any meaningful manner. You either got great cards or you are out. FWIW, I would not play in this tournament. |
