Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
I was gonna post this in OOT... but then I realized I was gonna post this in OOT LOL.
SO anyways, who's had wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon? Is it fun? I'm actually sort of excited because I love getting put under because I find it fun. The pain won't be anything serious after it's done, amirite? |

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
I had 4 removed.
I then removed myself for 3 days from society. The best part was the pain pills that I was able to live off of for those 3 days. It hurts, but I'm a girl. Don't use a straw or smoke for 3-4 weeks after to prevent that one thing...suck rot? Can't remember what it's called, but there you have it. EDIT: Dry Socket it's called. Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
I had all four removed. Three were impacted. I wasn't put under, just given valium.
And I had 3 dry sockets spaced out over the next two weeks. Those suck. The surgeon has to dig into the wound, pack it full of gauze (to drain in) and then you have to go back and get the gauze removed after the wound has partially healed from the bottom up and attached itself to the gauze. Yeah, they suck. And no, I didn't use a straw. |

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
Peoples experiences vary depending on the skill of the surgeon, the degree of impaction and peoples own pain tolerance.
If you have any specific questions i can help but most of this stuff has been covered plenty of times on these forums and you can always ask your doctor. -JP (4th yr dental student) |

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
the only good thing after your wisdom teeth are removed is the fact that you get extremely powerful pain killers, other than that it sucks, when i had mine removed, the novacaine wore off on one side of my mouth, so when he went to remove it, well you probably could guess how it felt

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
I had mine removed over 10 years ago (4 impacted). I had one day of intense pain followed by 3-4 days of discomfort. By the time I wen to have the stitches removed I was feeling close to normal.

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
The only thing that sucks is right after the initial surgical medication wears off it feels like someone is cutting your gums.
Also dont get dry sockets, I made the mistake of spitting when I brushed my teeth and tore open one of my wounds, hurt like a bitch |

Re: Tell Me About Getting 3 Wisdom-Teeth Removed
I had 4 removed (3 impacted), with a local and IV Valium. The most painful part of the process was the injection of the local into the nerves, which was done before the Valium was injected. The IV injection gave me quite a rush. I guess maybe that's something like what makes people inject heroin IV. I was somewhat aware of what was going on, but so stoned I didn't care. I remember hearing/feeling a tooth being crushed somewhere in there but it didn't really bother me. If they'd said "Let's cut his balls off while we've got him under", I would have been mildly distressed at most. I didn't have too much pain afterward. I actually went for a hike two or three days after the procedure I didn't have dry sockets or any other complications.
