Default How early do you need to arrive for a WSOP tourney?

I'm playing in Event #2, Friday the Casino employees. It starts at 5pm and i was looking at leaving work b/w 3:30-4pm to leave, park, and register.

Think I will be safe?

The tourney isnt in the casino but in the convention center, right? Any info appreciated...i could look around online but i figure someone here prob already knows from experience.

appreciate feedback.

am i better off doing this than just showing up and registering? will it be that packed

Assuming that you have your tournament entry card already that tells your table and seat allocation, then no problem.

You need to allow maybe 10-15 mins to walk right through the Rio to the Convention Center out the back, depending upon where you park.

In any case, if you are delayed and miss a couple of hands, it would not be the end of the World. Just make out like Phil Hellmuth and pretend you intended to arrive late...!

I just read your second post...

If you can possibly get to the Rio in the next couple of days to register in person, in advance, then that is what I would do.

You don't want to be rocking up there at 4.45pm on June 2nd to find that there are 300 people in line ahead of you to register.

There's no self-parking nearby? I cabbed it last year, but I'll probably have a car this year.

there's self parking nearby, or was the last two years. ("nearby" still being a long-ass walk to the tournament area).

You do have to know where to park. Don't park in the normal Rio lots and garages, you want to park out in the convention center area. It's still a hike, but WAY shorter than if you parked near the main Rio entrances. It'd be less of a hike if you could use closer entrances but they seem to funnel everybody through the main convention center entrance where the cabs drop people off, so from the parking lot you have to hike up the length of the convention center (depending where you got to park), then right back down the way you came inside. I so need to find a back door this year.

I would definitely try to register the day prior, or give yourself more than an hour. You need a Harrah's players card so if you don't have that expect a wait. You probably then need to register as a WSOP player if they do it like last year and there will likely be a line for that. Then you have to register for the event--another line. And trying to accomplish that in the one hour before a major event starts (their first one, so they will be outta practice and probably having troubles early on until they work out the kinks) is asking too much. It might happen, but it might take longer.

Definitely get out there earlier to register if being seated when the event starts is important to you. 90 minutes would be fairly safe, I'd think. Or better, the day prior. Just don't have a fender-bender on the way there.

Just read something that says registration for all WSOP events begins at 9am on June 1. So maybe you cannot register the day prior.

When I preregistered, the website stated that all preregistrations needed to be completed 2 weeks prior to the scheduled event, but preregistering in person maybe a completely different story . . . .
