5/10 Semibluff vs very loose/aggro player
Villain has been very aggressive, 3-betting light, fighting for tons of pots and basically been pushing me around/running me over so far in a short session. He's playing very loose preflop and shown down a lot of garbage. He hasn't been faced with much resistance yet so not sure how he'll respond. Not really sure if he's a winner but he's at least decent and somewhat thinking.
Effective stacks 1k 5 handed, folds to him in cutoff he opens to 35, I call in big blind with J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Flop is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check he bets 75 I checkraise to 275, he calls. Turn is a 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero? I feel like I need to take a stand against this opponent and put some pressure on him instead of the other way around, but after he calls my flop bet not sure how much fold equity I have anymore since its very likely for him to put me on a draw and call down light, on the other hand he may not call off the rest of his stack with a draw on a paired board. Suggestions? |

Re: 5/10 Semibluff vs very loose/aggro player
i don't like cr'ing the flop vs this player. i prefer it vs. players who cbet/fold/dont re-re-raise you often when they think you're bluffing the flop.
vs. this player, when I get the urge to make a checkraise on this flop, i do it on the turn instead (after this decision, i'll follow through on anything but a K turn.) against a player like this, cc pre c/c flop c/r turn with biggish pocket pairs too. i also prefer b/3betting the flop to the line in the OP. as played though, i c/f because the 8 fell, but bet pottish and call a push on non pairing turns. i c/f pairing turns because your believable hands become combinatorically less likely, and also, i'd c/f on a 9 in particular because he could have one, and a 3 in particular because he instacalls TT. |
