Default 2/4 - Bluffing the river with very little FE

Villain is a multitabling regular (19/13/2.7 1300 mined hands)

My image is TAG, don't remember any big hands between us before this. And I don't know how he plays his draws.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (6 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

SB ($376)
BB ($807)
Hero ($400)
MP ($491.24)
CO ($982.52)
Button ($976.85)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero raises to $16, 3 folds , SB calls $14, 1 fold .

Flop: ($36) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $29, SB calls $29.

Turn: ($94) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $73 , SB calls $73.

River: ($240) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $116, Hero calls $282 (All-In)

What does he have? The best hand I can put him is QJ.

It's only ~140 more for him to call so he doesn't expect me to bluff here and has to fold. Or does he?

He's getting fantastic odds, but his bet seems a lot like a blocker.

Doesn't surprise me that this hand didn't get a whole lotta love.

This was probably the first time I've tried a play like this and I'm not in love with it either. Don't hate it as much as you do though.

Did anyone try to put the villain on a hand? I'm still curious about that, 'cos his line is weird.

Stone cold bluff with a missed draw or a blocker with TP+missed draw are only hands I can imagine.

Exactly. If he has a hand, he's minimizing his value. I can't bluff over that bet, 'cos I don't have enough FE.

KQh is the only big hand that could've check-called the flop and turn, but why would be minimize his equity with that kind of river bet? He could put out a proper fake blocker (60-80) to induce a push, push himself or even check.

The best I could put him was a one pair hand and that he can safely fold to my push, 'cos my line is überstrong and a thinking player would never bluff there.

My play may have been reckless and stupid, but I believe that against a thinking player I had much more FE than you think. No thinking player is stupid enough to bluff the river giving the odds he has to call?

I'd probably like it more if we didn't have the pair (not saying I'd like it still, but you know, I'll discuss it anyway).

I think calling >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>> pushing to be honest. Folding is still best.

My first thought after his river bet was "he missed his draw, I'll call with my pair", but after thinking it for a few seconds I realized he might be blocking with a bigger pair and can't call if I push.

I think pushing was better than calling, but I might be results oriented as he folded.

Playing it safe and fold is obviously standard, but his line just didn't make sense to me and I pushed my luck.

Looks like his line didn't make sense for anyone else either 'cos no-one has said anything about villains hand.

You probably folded the best hand. I don't think the board makes sense for a block though.
