low content: Live limit :(
Most of my experience with poker is no limit. Unfortunately, none of my local casinos offer no limit so I am often forced to play 3/6 limit which is fine. The game I play at is often filled w/ complete donks who are limping pretty much every hand and will never fold on the flop. Most of them either miss value bets, and they don’t play anywhere close to ideal which is fine and standard.
I was playing against two really passive players to my left. They were very nice and on the river he made a bet on a TJ6A4 rainbow board, I had A10s, he had JT and flipped over his hand as a kind gesture before I made a call or raise. I thought it would be a pretty dick move to raise here, so I just called and scooped pot. But then I just found that it was hard to value bet (mostly on river) versus some of the people at my table because .. a.) They were nice b.) some people played nuts super passively against people they were cool with c.) it made me look like I was a bully. d.) they would check behind nuts on river versus me or at least bet and show there hand Bottom line, is this just a really soft 3/6limit game? Made me feel sort of weird playing in that game but only casino for my age in the area. I want to play live poker but 3/6 limit just seems ridiculous and the optimal strategy to beating the game is pretty boring and uneventful. Also the amount of rake the casino takes is ridiculous and almost makes it unprofitable despite the horrible play. Suggestions, comments? |

Re: low content: Live limit :(
Get to know the other regulars better, and find ways to be nice to them while still getting value out of your hands. Yes, they will start playing better against you even if successful but your A game vs. their A game should be better than your D game vs. their D game.

Re: low content: Live limit :(
Your avatar is both disturbing and fascinating at the same time. Not unlike a fat woman in a g-string.
Sounds like the guys in this game are just out to have some fun & gamble it up. If that's also why you're there, play along with them & be the nice guy. If you're there primarily to make money, keep being nice to them & get involved in the table chatter, but bet & raise as your hands warrant. As long you do either one consistently, I doubt that anyone will have a problem with you (although they'll probably play more seriously against you). |

didn't you play fairly high nl? [/ QUOTE ] still do online, but I always want to play live and end up regretting it. I guess point of my posts, everyone there is playing and having a good time, and I dont want to be the rock taking it seriously so I feel bad for being agressive and playing optimal against some of these players. Like its just ridiculous, theres no good places anywhere in WA state for people 18? I was just ranting though . |

Re: low content: Live limit :(
well if the money isn't super important, go play and have fun, lag it up and get the table going and chasing and stuff
if you want to play more seriously, try playing a higher level of limit like 10/20? or nl live is always possible obv |
