AK preflop when villain has ~50bbs
I’m never quite sure how to play AK when an unknown villain who 3-bets has only around 50bbs. I dislike just calling here against a half-stacked player, so without a read I typically just shove. However, I find that fold equity is usually slim to non-existent against a 3-bettor with this stack size, so it’s usually a race against JJ or similar.
Are we happy to get the money in here with this hand, or is folding acceptable? Fine. The problem comes when shortstack opens to $8 and you have AK.

[/ QUOTE ] I've actually been wondering about this as well. Against weak opponents, I've found myself 3betting more then normal to commit myself, pretty much shoving any flop, though probably incorrectly. Either that, or flat calling. Thoughts? |
