Check cashing joints
I have a rather large check being fedexed over night on saturday to me, I need that money saturday, but my bank is stupid and will probably try to put a 10 day hold on the check. What do those check cashing places charge normally? is it negotiable? Will they be able to give me 30k+ in cash on a saturday?

guids,
Pretty sure it's a flat fee with a maximum charge, but... [ QUOTE ] Will they be able to give me 30k+ in cash on a saturday? [/ QUOTE ] I can't imagine this happening. |

Re: Check cashing joints
Probably not. If you have matching funds in your bank account you should be okay, or try to cash it off a savings account instead of a checking (the hold on the savings account means little to nothing).
Most check cashing places won't have that kind of cash onhand for that large of a check, and most would not touch that large of a check just because of the amount of risk (especailly on a saturday) |

Re: Check cashing joints
Yea I'd be surprised if the avg check cashing place had 5k on a random day. Maybe call ahead, I highly doubt this will work either but it seems like your best bet.

Re: Check cashing joints
My sister works part time at a local cash checking place and they once cashed a check for $172,000 on a weekday.
You are gonna pay a pretty high fee depending on where you live. Also what kind of check is it? |

Re: Check cashing joints
I cashed a 12.5k check on a Saturday. I had to call around, the third place had that much cashe on hand, the others wanted me to wait until Monday. At the check cashing place I got on the phone with their home office out of state, and I was able to negotiate a flat $200 fee.
