Did this hand play itself ?
Villains pre flop raising range UTG is A10+,A7s+, any PP, and suited face cards.
Preflop: Hero is in BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain (UTG) raises to 10, 4 folds, Hero calls 5. Flop (22.50) A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero checks, vilain bets 5, Hero calls 5. Turn (32.50) 5 Hero checks, villain bets 10, Hero raises to 20, villain raises to 20, Hero calls 10. River (92.50) Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets 10, villain calls 10 Hero shows Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A nimzon shows A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero wins 112.50 with A fullhouse, Ace's and Queen's A few Q's Should I 3 bet pre flop ? If I lead flop, or raise flop, I figure I dont get any action from villain, so on flop, I had already decided to c/c, and c/r any turn card. When villain 3 bet the turn, should I have 4 bet with my hand ? If i was beat at this point, the club redraw is of no value to me, unless he had a very unliekly straight. Leading the turn is correct ? |

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
3 bet or fold PF, considering his range i'd 3 bet PF.
lead flop 3 bang when he raises the turn C-R river. robusto |

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
3 bet pre-flop, will call down any A in this spot
If you lead the flop, and he raises, you can be assured of a c/r on the turn, and possibly a 4-bet then. You could try to check the FH to him for another c/r on the river, but that most likely wouldn't work. A lead on the river is fine. If raised, 3-bet. |

Preflop: Hero is in BB with Q A Villain (UTG) raises to 10, 4 folds, Hero calls 5. ^ Seems a bit controversial. You played every street except turn badly imo (with that pf action I would've C/R'd flop). |

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
Thanks for the advice, I didnt realise I had made such a hash of this hand.
I really didnt think I would have got action on turn/river from a non Ace hand if I bet the flop, hence the line I took. |

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
I don't blame you. It just turned out that villan had an A, and you were going to make a good amount no matter what. If you three bet preflop, it could look like you are protecting JJ, or QQ, and villan would no longer think you are on an A.

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
Preflop: Raise for value.
Flop: Good. You should also checkraise here if there is a chance villian will check turn with something like TT. I dislike leading like others suggest - I think perhaps they are being results orientated. If we knew that villian had an ace here leading would be good but much more often villian is going to have a pocket pair or two big cards. Turn: good River: checkraise! |

Re: Did this hand play itself ?
Flop is good.
If he's a total bluffing psycho I'll checkcall the turn too and wait for the river. If you're leading this flop you have to lead turn and river and you never really give him a chance to bluff and he'll fold the turn more than half the time which sucks. PF is the only debatable street and you're OOP so I really don't even think just calling is that terrible. What are you going to do when you 3bet and the board is Kxx or Jxx Check? Lead out? You open yourself up too much by doing that. Just calling will make a lot of players keep firing, especially on a board like that. |
