$60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
Villian has been very active. Thoughts? What if I didn't have a piece of the flop?

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
(from small stakes)
It seems strange to me that he did not push preflop. No ? What was your plan when you call ? If it does not seem curious then it's OK, you're very rarely beat by both player here. |

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
I may have just mucked pf. But I think once you decide to play it, you should probably go broke on that flop...especially if villain has been very active.
edit: If you didn't catch the flop, I'm definitely folding. Also, what do you think about open shoving the flop? |

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
I'd have to guess that pushing, calling, and folding preflop would similar $EV expectations. Once you call preflop, I like your line. If villian has a King or better, it is hard to imagine two random cards from the BB are going to be ahead.

Once he checks the flop I shove the turn.

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
Preflop I wanted to call to help get rid of shorty. A flop push may have been the way to go since I have a pretty good hand and there's a good sized side pot. My thoughts were that I just wanted to get to show down w/ all of us in to get shorty out.
He wasn't a great player so his preflop raise of not allin didn't mean much. |

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
I like your call pf... villan is loose and bad so you have to icr. your chances of knocking out the short stack and sneaking into the $. after your call you have 1950 left in your stack and there is 3200 in the pot. so, with over 150% of your stack already in the pot you have to push that flop. and if the villan by chance wakes up w/ a better hand you still have a good chance of busting 3rd anyway bc short stack is in w/ 2 random cards

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
Why put yourself in a marginal situation. BB's forced in, you're ahead of the button's range, push pf.

Re: $60: A8 bubble, shorty allin
This is fold or push but not a call, you are not deep enough to play post-flop. I would fold this preflop for two reasons. First there is little fold equity if you push, pot is ~4500 and call is ~1500 so 3:1 they call. Second, BB has to call here, if you fold, and put his life on the line, and knowing BB has to call I think Button's raising range tightens, but a read would help that.
