Default Zambrano\'s got high hopes: Cy Young + WS

“I believe this year I will win the Cy Young and I will enjoy that,” Zambrano said. “Besides that, we will win the World Series. I guarantee you that.”

Well there's a dumb one

It does make me wonder though which sport would be toughest to "guarantee" a championship. I guess the oddsmakers would have an idea. I think baseball might be the toughest. In football and basketball you've got maybe a handful of strong contenders each year. In baseball I don't think you can assign even the best teams a very high % chance of winning the WS. Just seems more wide open than the other sports. Also I think it might have to do with the long grueling season.

Anyway, the main thing is that Zambrano is a [censored] here. Hope it works out though.

takes guts to stand up to a curse and say that...who knows with this team and the pitching concerns...

while i think baseball is long and grueling, a lot of depth issues can be covered up with payroll, though that obviously doesn't gaurantee a championship...

my thinking is prolly football because the playoff system is just one game per round and anything could happen on a given sunday...also, i think the parity is a factor as well, so it's hard to see which teams will even be in the playoffs...

Is it possible he will ever walk less then 100 people per year?

The [censored] Cardinals won last year. I'm more than willing to accept any team's claim at a WS at this point.

I want to be on record as guaranteeing that his guarantee won't hold up.

He is starting to refer to himself in the 3rd person too...

He is a good pitcher, and he is still VERY young (turns 26 in June).

As a die-hard Cubs fan, I think his predictions are pretty funny, and probably won't come true. However, he is a very good pitcher and will continue to be barring any injuries.
