Default Cold Calling Oddities at Poker Stars .25/.50

I've been playing Poker Stars .25/.50 for a few weeks now - my latest effort at learning limit holdem - going well so far. However, I've noticed something I've not seen previously - a habit some players have of cold calling every single raise (2, 3 or 4 bets) of the person to their immediate right, but rarely cold calling anyone else's raises. That there are microlimit holdem players that habitually cold call is no surprise, but that they seem to be employing some sort of deliberate strategy with cold calling - just palyers to their immediate right - seems very odd to me. None of the players I've seen do this appear to otherwise good players.

Has anyone else noticed this? What might be driving the thinking behind this strategy? FancyPlaySyndrome? A new strategy book? Some kind of prank advice website? Is there any kind of legitimate strategic or tactical thinking behind this kind of play? Just wondering...

all of these are reasonable and plausible explanations

personally i think its generally just bots with an error in their coding, they make their decision based on other players, once the raise is to them it overrides that and the auto-timer kicks in.... leaving them to default to the 'cold call'

Cold calling is the new isolation raise.

I think you have an extrapolation error. Set the sample size in your pattern mapper to 50,000 or so.

I played with a guy last Friday at a 3/6 table who did this to me every single time I raised. While he was a calling station and I won lots of mobnies from him, it was annoying to have some moron keep cold-calling me in position. So I got in an open seat to his left and pounded on him with isolation raises. When he busted out, I left the table up more than $150 (though I came down from +$200 after a couple of small disasters).
