i like more on the turn and a raise on the river. what do you think he has, 89? JJ? U hit a great card and got no value.

I'm definitley raising it up. Youre beating every single hand a good player would have here. It'll be great if he has a 9, I doubt you'll see 89 or 95 and JJ is unlikely. What hands are you afraid of?

Hi Tamynese,

This is an interesting hand.

Pre-flop this is a borderline call -- at a $6.5, the implied odds of hitting a set make it certainly not unreasonable.

I like that you checked the flop since even though your hand is often good there, it is early in the SNG, and you want to avoid tough spots where you have a marginal hand out of position.

Solid lead out at the turn when you hit your full house. A good-sized value bet, like yours, is your only real shot at winning a big pot on this raggedy board. Good play.

But I would suggest leading out at the river. This is because there are very few hands that have you beat. The BB is gone, and the other pre-flop limpers would have probably folded 9 8 or 9 5 type hands, raised JJ, etc.

The jack is a card that may well have helped someone, and you will probably be paid off big if someone has any piece of this board and you bet solidly for value. So I would tend to make a pot-sized river value bet here.

Anyway, in the actual hand you checked and the solid MP2 bet? Strange. I am guessing he had 8 8, T Qs, or Jh Xh (X = T, Q, K, or A).

Best Regards,
Collin

Folding here is definitely a big leak at any level, and I am fairly sure it would also be a leak to fold to a minbet or raise of 60 (where you would have to call 60 or 90 total). Hardly borderline.

Thanks for the replies...MP2 hadn't played many hands so far and he had 101% roi in 750 games. When he called the turn I had a feeling he had 88 so thats why I checked the river. He turned over J9s for the boat.

I don't know, I think you're ahead so much of the time that you just have to pay j9 off here. I'd be trying to get it in here.

The river bet certainly looks like its made for value, but he has every reason to think three 9s are good here, and shoot he could easily have 6-7 or just be taking a shot since your turn bet was a little small... just my two cents
