Re: 50: xpert flop check
We have an incredibly strong drawing hand that will be totally transparent when we hit and "wake up". I like the flop bet for FE, to build pot, to disguise. (edit - ...and to buy a free river card)

[/ QUOTE ] This is my normal thinking in these type of situations, and I usually bet. However, I am experimenting with being more selective with my cbets, and sometimes checking in HU pots with lots of different hands vs some opponents. I checked here because ...there is a good chance I will get called, so my FE is lower than normal ...I can avoid being cr off my decent draw ...with four to a straight my hand will be transparent no matter what I do |

Along the same line, the risk of a c/r is lower than normal and more likely he will slowplay his big hand on the turn too to give you a free card. If you turn a straight you can check or bet weakly giving you a chance to look scared of the straight and inducing a bluff or at least still getting a river bet called. I'll forego a cbet against passives more often but I think the reasons to bet on this flop are just too compelling for little if any gain. |

Re: 50: xpert flop check
How is the straight transparent? It would be blatantly obvious with 4 connected cards on the table.

Jouster,
" Since he is passive FE is lower than normal but not zero." This bet is not going to be a positive one in the long run. |
