Computer running slow after monitor update
OK, so I went from a 17 (or 15 not sure) to a 20 inch monitor. Now, whenever I run PT + run 4 tables, it runs slow as hell and basically takes forever for me to act, making me time out almost every time. Now I talked with someone else and they said it might be a problem with my RAM as I only have 512mb. So what exactly is the fix to my problem?
BTW, it worked fine for the first half hour of my session last night and then it became really slow. And today, I played for half an hour, realized that I didn't import hands from PT and right when I started it, it became slow as hell. |

Re: Computer running slow after monitor update
If you went to a larger resolution and have a craptacular video card with integrated graphics memory and only 512mb of memory then you are just running out of memory. Buy either:
1. A better graphics card, anything with 126 or better in the name. 2. Buy some more ram, 1 gig is good 2 gig (total) is better. 3. Buy a faster computer and dump the POS you have now. |

Re: Computer running slow after monitor update
POST A SCREEN SHOT OF YOUR TASK MANAGER!!! If you are having performance problems please post a screenshot as it will help us gratly in diagnosing your problem.
Can we sticky that please???? But in your case, as mentioned before, you just need better hardware most likely. Please post the screen shot if you can to verify. |

Re: Computer running slow after monitor update
Hmm...what in the world. The problem seems sorta fixed now. I tried to compress my PT database, but after like 5 minutes, my computer was running slow as ass and I decided to not do it now (+ PT froze.) I'll renew this thread if I'm having the same problems again.
BTW, if I wanna go to a 2 gig ram, how much is it gonna be? Also, is it easy to install this by yourself if you have no idea what you are doing? |
