$16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
Hero (t2765) Button (t1640) SB (t1625) BB (t2750) UTG (t4720) Preflop: Hero is MP with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG raises to t4695</font>, Hero ??? given the stack sizes, I thought it would be best to lay it down, buuut I also thought that if I call and win, Im almost guaranteed ITM and on a good run to win it. What would you all do here? |

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
I actually might call - some people might disagree with me here, but without any reads, I'd say he's probably not pushing AA or KK here, so at worst we're probably looking at a coinflip. A double-up puts you at like t5900 or so, and then you can pwn big time. Also, any reads on how UTG has been playing? Were his big pots luckbox flukes/does he push marginal hands too hard? If so, it's an insta-call I think.

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
Read on utg is vital here, if he is loose and trying to pwn its insta-call. If he is anywhere near tightish, its a fold.
Break even point is if utg is pushing top 16% (55+, a8o+, a5s+, KTo+, K9s+, QJs) |

Wow, I would def call here. It's not like anyone is looking to go out soon, and there's a very good chance we have UTG dominated here. Wouldn't expect to see QQ+ here either.

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
I agree with the read comment...hopefully by now you have an idea as to what he is doing...has he changed gears into a controlled maniac? Also, how agressive is the table as a whole? If they are beating the snot out of each other, I might be more inclined to let it go, whereas if they are sqeaking, I may take the chance here...you may not get better options. Having said that, while I may call some of the time, for the most part, I like to be the raiser in this situation rather than the caller...obviously no fold equity. I beleive that in these tournies, again obviously, fold equity is a big part of the game and I am not always thrilled calling here.

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
I think a call here is justified since your M around 6.
You are more than likely looking at a mid pair so you are about 50% to take an excellent chip lead and control of the game. |

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
ug... read is super important here... I just moved up to the 16s this month, so maybe it happens, but I don't see people pushing super wide utg with bigstacks all that often. I'm thinking you're flipping often here... but 8 tabling i probably just grow a sack and call and hope he has AQ.

Re: $16 Stars: AKs facing all in from big stack
I most likely fold here, I put him on hand like TT-66 here, and with your stack size/the fact that your to his left, you can pick a better spot to pick on the shorter stacks to your left when it is folded to your later on in the SNG. Bottom line, you can find a better opportunity to get chips later.
