How would I know if I saw an ACist Society?
I asked this question to Borodog privately, but I think it should bring up an interesting discussion. What are the characteristics that are neccesary to judge a society as ACist? I should be able to go down a list, and if all criteria are met, it is ACist. Or if perhaps almost all of the criteria are met, it can be at least "mostly" ACist.
Clearly it isn't just absence of government, although that is required. What other conditions are required to judge it as such? |

Re: How would I know if I saw an ACist Society?
Arbitrary. ACism is a continuum, not discontinuous.

Arbitrary. ACism is a continuum, not discontinuous. [/ QUOTE ] I think I accounted for this in my OP. By your judgement, you could arbitrarily state that we currently live in an ACist society. At least, what are the conditions that I can use to judge how ACist a society was? |

Lack of government, lack of chaos and people believing in the idea of property.

Lack of government, lack of chaos and people believing in the idea of property [/ QUOTE ] Is lack of chaos a definitional part of an AC society or is that just what you'd like to see so that if a society existed w/ little/no government and a respect for property that was also chaotic you could dismiss it as not AC? |

[/ QUOTE ] It's to differentiate between AC and places torn apart by war. American West of the late 1800s = relatively AC. Somalia = not remotely AC. |

Widespread respect for property and widespread chaos are mutually exclusive. [/ QUOTE ] Brilliantly and succinctly said. Anyone who cannot see the simple truth of this is being deliberately obtuse. |

Lack of government, lack of chaos and people believing in the idea of property. [/ QUOTE ]I have only recently started learning about AC. Who settles property disputes in an ACist society? |
