Default Brag: My first cash in B&M tournament

I was in Vegas last week for the wedding of my friend. Other than the 4 hours that consumed it was all golf and poker.

Tourney results:
3/21 11PM Caesars: 30th (out of 103)
3/22 11PM Caesars: 11th (out of 99 - paid 9 D'Oh!)
3/24 12AM Strat: 28th (out of 36 - Yecch)
3/24 2AM TI: 8th (out of 13 - double Yecch)
3/25 6PM MGM: T10 (out of 77) Won:$775

In the MGM tournament, as usual, I was nursing a short stack almost the entire way. I think I am too conservative early on, and rarely find myself near the chip leaders. OTOH I also rarely bust out early. When we redraw seats for the final table talk starts up about chopping ten ways even. The payout was to the top six. The other nine players had roughly even stacks, I was pretty far behind. Only two say they'd rather play on.

During the next three hands more talk about chopping. I suggest a $200/player save. Those that know what this means are in favor, but the TD doesn't want to do the math. So we play on.

The two hold outs are coming around to the 10 way idea, and it is suggested that we talk about it more during the break that will start in 3 minutes. At about this time I get dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG. As the deal is finishing, and play is about to start with me, the two hold outs start talking like they will probably agree to a chop at the break. I think about it for a few seconds and ditch big slick (decidedly non-balla).

Before the hand is over, the two holdouts agree to chop and play stops. "Just for fun" (tm) the dealer finishes the river: I would have had the nuts and trippled up (assuming the two players would have called my all in - who knows?). LOL.

Anyway, I'm pretty thrilled with my first ever cash in a "real" tournament.

Eh, it was a +EV move. I was way behind with little chance of making the top six. EV is what it's all about, right? Besides, I already admitted it was weenie.

So in this situation, with the table basically agreeing to chop ten ways in a six pay tourney in two or three hands, you having by far the smallest stack (so small that doubling up here leaves you as the small stack) you shove? I'm certainly no pro, so I guess it could be the right move, but I don't think so.
