Default Line check: Raise or Call this flop?

I think Villain is solid regular (AA_MILO) but not sure. He is at 2-3 of my tables and has played pretty good so far. I have been pretty tight showing down a missed draw other then that no history.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $20 BB (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com

BB ($2411)
UTG ($146)
MP ($2000)
Hero ($2030)
SB ($2017)

Preflop: Hero is Button with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $70</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB calls $50.

Flop: ($150) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets $140</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $420</font>, BB calls $280.

Turn: ($990) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
BB checks, Hero checks.

River: ($990) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets $40</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $1030

On flop do you like a raise or call better? If turn does not pair the board do you think its better to take a free card or fire a bet out?

why would a solid reg bet 40 into like a 1k pot with Ax there?

to block vs a raise and maybe his AQ got counterfeited he realised any ace is splitting because of the Q kicker...?
I doubt he's betting 40 for value?

just call flop, if he's leading into you that strong its probably not with a hand he intends to fold. you can always bet the turn when checked to and steal it that way, or perhaps even shove the turn if you're feeling loco.
