Stars 30/60 Break the 8 or stay pat and call down?
Villan seems too loose and aggressive on earlier streets and too passive on the later streets

Holy crap fold predraw. This is exactly why, you hit the two best cards in the deck and you can't even raise and are thinking about breaking. As played I call down but this is a nasty nasty way to get to that decision.

Re: Stars 30/60 Break the 8 or stay pat and call down?
I'm interested to see what the heavy hitters say ... 10/20 is the highest limit I've ever played 2/7 but I have played against lots of aggressive opponents and in general, if he was loose enough for me to 3-bet him with 872 in that spot then I would never break this hand to him. You can beat most 87's and I think you will probably win often enough to just call and call the river. I think raising is bad because he will seldom break a better hand, we really don't want to get 3-bet and we don't want to encourage him to break a 9 or whatever that would then be drawing live against us. It sounds weak but I think the best play is to call this bet, call the river and bet if checked to.

Re: Stars 30/60 Break the 8 or stay pat and call down?
Death Donkey,
Normally I would fold here but he was playing pretty loosely before the first draw(and would always open raise) and so I was willing to try and get heads-up with him. Normally i would want 234 or 237 to 3-bet here. As I said he was willing to gamble it up on the earlier streets. I should also mention this opponent earlier had called me down with a pair of fours on the end. He had also called down with alot of other weak hands so I figured that if I hit as weakly as a nine or ten I would still be able to bet it for value on the end if he showed passivity. It may have been too loose but what sort of distribution would you put him on here? I was thinking anywhere from a 97 to the wheel. He had never shown this much aggression throughout and from other plays I'd seen from him this would never be a snow here. |

if hes never snowing and had a decent one card draw your in trouble. preflop is scary bad considering your position. Your beat most of the time but your preflop spew makes it impossible to break here because of the pot size a bad break is too costly.

Yes i get it. But since I didn't why not try and add something constructive and original and answer my question and at the end add something like oh by the way you spewed pre-draw instead of just mindlessly regurgitating something someones already said.

Re: Stars 30/60 Break the 8 or stay pat and call down?
I don't see how you can break. Playing the hand in the first place is bad enough, breaking once you basically make the best you could hope for against a bad player is even worse. Pot is gigantic, hope that he's doing what bad players do best, make stupid plays.
*edit* Honestly I stopped reading at first just to bold quote that part of DD's reply, so I see that he and inwiththebest said the same thing. Nothing else can really be said. Huge pot, breaking a winner is now much worse than calling down with a loser. |

You should break on the second draw.

[/ QUOTE ] How about ignoring your thread because you don't seem to be taking people's advice and you have a chip on your shoulder about it? Rather than berate Howmany for saying you should be folding pre-draw, try to learn from the people who are trying to help you. I'd comment on the hand, but I don't feel like it now . |
