Which structure is better? Live n00b weighing local 1-2NL games
Hi all,
I play six-max microstakes NL online, haven't played much higher than 50NL, but I have been playing for a while, am decent for my level I think, and supposedly live games are fishy as hell right? There are two main games/structures in my area that I am looking at. Assuming equally-(un)skilled players in each game, which is better: A game with a $5/half-hour time charge, or a game with a 6% rake, capped at 6 bucks? I assume the latter by a wide margin. Also, how does 1-2NL live usually play? I've played it a couple of times and won a little bit but any info is helpful. |

are you sure it's not a 10% rake?
6% seems like a strange number |

The table will probably pay more rake with the %. However, if you play a normal TAG style you'll definitely pay less with this rake...

Don't worry about the time charge v. the standard rake at 1-2. I had a thread on this a few weeks ago.
Live 1-2 NL has so many stations and fools who will call down with their $100 stacks with top pair mediocre kicker. Any good player should be fine with either rake. |

personally, at 1/2 NL, I hate time charge..
I play tighter and that 10 bucks an hour is damn annoying, especially when I don't get a couple hands right away to double up or anything... |
