What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
What is a normal (average/good) dealer tip amount? % of the pot won? Do the stakes matter? If so, what about for $1/$2 NL? $100 pot?
Would this be the same regardless of the rake? Or location (Vegas vs. local card room)? |

Re: What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
I tip $1 for any normal pot where I win with a flop or turn bet.
I dont tip if I raise and everyone folds. Sometimes i dont tip if there are like 2 limpers and I bet the flop and everyone folds. If I win a big pot where I stack a guy or take $200-$400 from him , I tip $2-$3. It probably avgs pot to $1 for every pot I win |

Re: What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
I tip a buck on pots where I make some money. Again like the other poster 2-5 if they are big to massive pots. One other thing I have started is I will tip a buck if I go into the tank for about a minute or more, even if I fold. If I take a hand away from the dealer, its not his fault.

Re: What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
$1. $0 if you take it down preflop or on the flop against only 1 or 2 people.

[ QUOTE ]
Two good links: First Second Note item #4. [/ QUOTE ] I used the search feature not long ago about tipping. I found 2 years of posts saying that it has already been covered, and very little valid information. There is only fighting. Is there an FAQ on it? For the most frequently asked question, and most hated frequently asked question, there should be an FAQ, but I don't see it. |

Re: What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
I'm fairly new to B&M play -- I did search, but forgot to put the "+" in front of each word, so didn't find anything. I really like how the SSNL forum has the most-asked questions covered in the FAQ pinned at the top. Very useful. Maybe the B&M mods can help by pointing people in the right direction (not just the search form) for these very frequently asked questions.
I'm going to read through a lot of these, then respond here with a summary. So far, it seems like $1 is normal, a few dollars for big pots. So, perhaps something like a % of the pot makes sense? 2.5% or something? $2-3 for a $100 pot; $5 for a $200 pot. $1 for any pot under $60. Would this still apply in a $100/$200 NL game? Not sure. Anyway, I'll respond here after I read a bazillion posts about this. |

Re: What is a Normal Dealer Tip Amount?
$2-$3 for a $100 pot and $5 for a $200 pot is way too much. Im sure the dealers will love it, but it'll kill your bottom line.
Theres $200 pots in the 2/5 game I play all the time. Probably 8-12 an hour, but thats still usually just $1 tip, maybe $2 for some people. I dont know what dealers make in total. Im sure they get paid something by the casino and if they deal 25 hands per hour )I think the avg is closer to 30) and they get $1 each hand, thats $25 per hour plus whatever the casino pays them. $30 / hr is pretty good for dealing cards. Thats in the $60K range. |
