Re: February Sales Stats
Wow, the PS2 is going strong. That is remarkable.
I'm also shocked at both handheld numbers. The PSP is actually selling fairly well. Its numbers only look bad in comparison to the juggernaut that is the DS. |

Re: February Sales Stats
Did the wii only sell 335k because that is all they could produce, or because that is all there was demand for?

Feel free to read the article Shoe.
[ QUOTE ] Wii might be selling even better if not for hardware shortages; the 360 and PS3, meanwhile, are available on shelves in most stores, a potentially troublesome sign for Microsoft and Sony. [/ QUOTE ] |

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I still don't have a Wii, but when I went to Costco today they had about a billion PS3 bundles for $700 which included a game, extra controller and maybe something else because I don't know how much that other stuff costs. I wish there was just 1 game I wanted for the PS3 because I'd probably get one out of boredom. I don't think the fact they're sitting on shelves is really "troublesome", I think it's more that it's so surprising that Wiis are still hard to find. |

Re: February Sales Stats
I don't think the PS2 selling strong is surprising, lots of good games came out recently for it and I think consoles sell really well for a while with the release of new consoles (I believe PS1 sold great for a while after the release of PS2). PS2 hasn't even dropped to 99 bones yet, that's another "magic mark" for sparking system sales.

[/ QUOTE ] This is a good idea. About 8 months ago I did the same thing with Gamecube (had a PS2 and Box for my last generation consoles), picked up a lot of great games for super cheap. Getting Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Pikmin 2, Mario Sunshine, all for around 10 bucks a pop kicks ass. PS2 has such a huge library anyways. |

Re: February Sales Stats
Sony's gameplan from the get go was to have "new gamers" integrate themselves via the PS2 and "mature" up to the PS3. I scoffed at this when I read it, but it seems at least the new gamers phase is working. I would assume the price breaks ($99/per) and established 10 year life cycle helps explain this, but still, pretty impressive.
