Default Phil Laak...shady cat.

Anyone see HSP last night? Laak is in involved in a hand with Esfandiari when the following occurs. Flop comes all diamonds Queen high. Esfandiari bets out with the Q and Laak quickly flips in a few chips. He then blurts outs out something to the effect that he thought they were of a different value and that he just meant to call instead of raise. He basically riased it 7K. Matasow tells him too bad the bet dtands and Esfandiari folds after a few seconds.

This seems similar to the story that was posted a few weeks ago claiming Laak pulled something similar only that time, his opponent called the big overbet Laak claimed was a mistake and Laak was holding the nuts. A debate followed caliming Laak was shady in doing this and he was angle shooting.

Well, it appears this is something Laak does on a consistent basis judging by this move he pulled on TV. Any thoughts on this?

I personally thinks it's just shady.

Definitly an angle shot. But probably a good one. I think him an Antonio go ways back so it was probably done with multiple level thinking involved.

he didnt have a hand this time... in the previous instance, when he was "angle-shooting", he had the nuts.. it cant be an angle shot both ways.. besides, whats wrong about lieing in a poker game? After you put a raise or bet in you can say wtf u want about that raise or bet. [censored] nits

But the thing is, he OBVIOUSLY meant to raise in the first place. Why put a bet out there misrepresenting your intentions. Its shady as hell. He clearly meant this as a form of tactic to get Esfandiari off his queen. Yet he claims as he is throwing the bet out there that he is calling..and then "oops" wrong color chips! If a stranger did this to me I would ask him what the hell his intentions really are and why he feels the need to lie about not knowing what color chips he was throwing out there. Its just not a good way to play IMO.

Shady this and shady that. Do you even play poker?
As long as you´re not cheating or abusing players, do what you can to win IMO.
