Help with changing Prima appearance

I'm looking for help with Prima mods. I found http://www.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?C...rue#Post8805809 and managed to change the background but it won't let me open the card files (or anything else for that matter) with paint to edit. So does anyone know of any free programs that will let me open a .DAT file to edit and re-save? .. or have any experience with Prima mods?
