Default BGC ban.

I just realized something important. The reason BGC wasn't originally banned back when people first started complaining about him is because Vulturesrow liked him and I respected his judgment. Vulture isn't a mod anymore, he was degreened for inactivity a couple days ago.

Goodbye BGC, we won't miss you.

How do you go from saying it is acceptable to post right wing talking points to banning the poster who does it a couple hours later? Vulturesrow was a long time political poster from what I understand, someone whose judgement you respected. He liked BGC as a poster apparently, nothing has changed regarding those things that led vulturesrow to believe he was worthy of this community, other than no longer being a mod. C'mon iron, your gut instincts are usually pretty good, don't let the recent heat you're taking induce rash crowd-pleasing decisions.

Maybe he changed his mind after considering the reasoned opinions of others? Isn't that an intended result of a discussion?

Another reasonable viewpoint is that BGC is a serial troll who makes inflammatory, irrelevant, dishonest posts, derogatory about Democrats/Liberals 100% of the time, with no intention of fostering any real discussion, which is the purpose of the forum.

Iron, perhaps you should change the title of this thread to make it appropriate for ATF?

Too late, Mike would have to do that. I tried to edit the title of the new OP before I split this off to send here, but that didn't work.

As for BGC, I have to brace myself when I see he started a thread for whatever inane drivel is on his mind. This thread is an excellent example of a bad OP followed by predictable flaming and calls to ban him. He was a pestilence on my forum and I'm glad he's gone.
